A fundraising art exhibition project

(updated 11/12/2007)

The process

Before the real fun with paints and canvas could begin, we needed to...

Learn about defibrillator's; feel for our pulses; look at art by McKenzie Thorpe and Karen Gillis Taylor and a selection of googled heart Art images; brainstorm ideas on how to represent the joint ideas of "heart+art+beat"; choose the size of canvas(es) and... get excited about next week's art session.

Slap on the white paint...

...use two fingers to smudge in colours...

...add a complementary colour to the edges

or maybe add some texture first -

with PVA glue or gesso?

and then, by the next week you are ready ...

to start painting your design. Such concentration

Such a buzz..., that the year 6/7 classes came back in three of their lunch hours to make sure their canvases were finished in the limited time they had in between their Gwyneth Ewen's Award drawings and their Camp at Rottnest. Hats on, just in case they finished in time to get out and play, food in one hand, brush in the other, 40 minute lunch times just weren't long enough for any of us! So many different ideas to be expressed around the theme of heARTbeat.

Parent & Community Donations

for the Silent Auction

On the left... as the artworks were gathered up in Room 12 prior to setting up the auction outside.

On the right... lined up on tables in full view of the family groups on the banks listening to fabulous chill out music while enjoying food, drink and the friendly companionship of our school community.

Bidding was slow to begin with, but picked up as the closing time of 7.30pm drew closer.

A huge thankyou to those who donated artworks, as combined, the auction raised $410 for the project.

and the total raised by the project is $_____ still to be announced !
