HEALTH PROMOTION AND PHYSICAL EDUCATION

Physical Education Specialist Teacher Program

  • All classes in the school participate in at least one 50 minute Physical Education session per week where they are exposed to skills related to various sports.  

  • Year 4-7 students are also involved in Friday Sport which gives students opportunities to use the skills developed in classes. 

  • Year 5-7 students will also be involved in interschool sport activities with surrounding schools.

 

Swimming

  • Year 1-7 students participate in swimming lessons conducted by at the Fremantle Pools which will culminate in a swimming carnival.

Dance Sport

  • Year PP to 7 participate in a dance program for one term delivered by an outside specialist during classroom teacher contact time.

As part of the Physical Education Program at the school we have a number of specialist clinics being conducted at the school by professional coaches.  These include:

         

 

Soccer – Through Football West

Tennis – Through Tennis West

Football – Through South Fremantle FC

and Fremantle F C - including Johnny the Doc FMS program in partnership with Notre Dame PE students

 

 

   Health Promotion 

 

Jump Rope for Heart

On Friday the 9th of May 2008 Beaconsfield will help the Heart Foundation attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the most people skipping at one time, as well as raise much needed funds for critical research and health promotion.

Fruit and Vegetable Week

From the 10th to the 14th of September students and staff will participate in a range of activities designed to increase awareness and positive perceptions of healthy eating.
