Station 12: Mini Yachts
In Mr Tyndall’s activity, the children created mini yachts from a cork, toothpicks and paper. We cut the corks in half, used the toothpick as a mast and pierced the paper onto it as a sail. We then trialled our products in a tray of water by blowing on them (wind) and having mini yacht races. Some of us modified our designs to make them more effective. It was hilarious when Mr Tyndall’s yacht sank! We really enjoyed the activity and look forward to more of these special science days!
