The number of Classes with work online continues to increase :)

Photography Unit by Year 5's in Room 8

Work by Rooms 7 and 8 showcasing their newly learned web design skills.

Music Festival          SCIENCE ACTIVITY DAY

The display of student work online is coordinated by the ICT Coordinator Mrs O'Brien as the Web Master. She is being ably helped by students from Year 5 in Room 8 to manipulate digital photos and format text so that the pages look appealing and are easy to read. Some current students from Years 6 and 7 have had some web page experience with Mrs O'Brien over the last two years, and where possible are encouraged to produce their own class web pages, for example, the Room 17 students with Mrs Murphy and Mrs O'Brien's assistance completed their own Fruit and Veg page. We use Microsoft Frontpage as our WYSIWYG html editor and Paint Shop Pro 7 and 8 to manipulate photos.

Special thanks goes to the P&C for purchasing a site licence of PSPro 8 for the school.

It is already being extremely well used in a number of classrooms and especially in the Art Room.

One of our Beacy Dad's, Jamie Moe, has created a delightful Multimedia Memories Tour of some of Beaconsfield Primary School's visual highlights, specifically targetting the arts works which have been produced as a result of P&C backing. You can view it from here.

To see more about the process involved in each of the projects, be sure to also look at our page on the  School Beautification which was put together by various web design groups of Year 4 and 5 students as part of Mrs O'Brien's ICT support program in 2001 (our current graduating students) and in 2003.

Sadly, last year as a result of staffing allocations, the support of Learning Technologies in the classroom suffered, including the amount of student input we were able to incorporate into our school website :(    However, if you have not already looked at what we did manage to put online thanks to Mrs d'Ascencio and her ILC class, you may well want to take a look at how her students viewed the concept of Harmony and how the whole school celebrated the diversity of our school and community during Harmony Week in 2002.

I'm afraid I am still trying to find the time to catch up on publicising the other wonderful arts projects which occurred during last year. The active involvement of our Parents and Citizen's Association in the beautification of our school environment is one to be envied.

Mr Peter Lillis has been appointed as our Acting Principal for the beginning of this year, while Ms Denise Hilsz, our substantive Principal, is acting as a District Director in the Warren-Blackwood District.

The P&C are running a Welcome back to the beginning of a new year Picnic with fun and music to entertain all the family this Friday 28/2/2003. We'll see you on the lawns by the outdoor stage!

The Foil Art Challenge has moved out of the School Foyer and into the foyer of the Curriculum Council in Osborne Park.

A special welcome to any of the teachers from New Delhi in India, with whom I was able to share inspiring moments in the search for meaningful teaching and learning whilst in Melbourne. You and other new and regular visitors will find that this is a site continually in progress. I invite you to return at regular intervals during the year. Pauline O'Brien - Web Master

During Term 3 we did some great Art work on Elephants and Ganesh - The God of New Beginnings and Overcomer of Obstacles. All of this continues to develop on our involvement with the Indian Ocean Rim Region Project.
Some of the Junior classes have created post cards for Mrs O'Brien to take with her for when she works with classes in Delhi at the Tagore International School
